Hola, Bella!

I was sent the Mary Kay Voxbox, and inside I found the lovely greeting of "Hello gorgeous! Hola bella!" and a bunch of goodies, including:
Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara
Mary Kay Cream Eye Color, Apricot Twist
Mary Kay Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush
Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color, Shy Blush
Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder
Mary Kay Gel Eyeliner with expandable Brush Applicator, Jet Black
Mary Kay Bronzing Powder
Mary Kay Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss, Mango Tango
If you know me, you know I like makeup, but I'm not the best at makeup. I know what works for me and how to accentuate what I've got, and I dream of one day mastering the eyeliner wing (but I doubt it will ever happen). When putting my makeup on (eyes, I'm looking at you!) I get it everywhere in the vicinity of where I'm puting it. Thank God for Q-Tips!
I was glad the box included basics. If it was something crazy, I likely never would have taken it out of the box. That being said, I have taken all of the items I received out of the box AND worn them every day since.
I put on my concealer and foundation like normal, then put on the translucent powder. I'm a fan of the powder. It's light and goes on very easily. It doesn't wash my fair skin out, either! 10/10
Next I put on bronzer. I use bronzer to contour and often do the E3 shape on my face (crown, under cheekbone, leading to chin) and the sides of my nose. It is a little on the lighter side, but it blends in really well with my skin, so it's a winner in my book! 9/10 After the bronzer, it's time to blush. I love the color — It is perfect for summer! It's a light pink, with a hint of a gold shimmer in it and goes really well on my fair skin. 10/10
After I have have contoured and blushed, I move on my my eyes — and this is where things tend to get messy! I've been using a gel eye liner for a couple months now and I prefer it to pencils and liquid. Pencils are just bulky and awkward, while liquid requires a steady hand and skills that I don't have. The gel goes on very smooth, and I can easily wipe off the areas that are too thick, or too far to the side. The brush is really great, too. The bottom part detaches and becomes the lid so the excess eyeliner on the brush doesn't cover everything in my makeup bag! I prefer this brush to the one I've been using on my other gel liner. I have a much easier time putting this on, and this goes on very smooth. 9/10
My favorite product from this is the eye shadow. The color is perfect for all skin tones and occasions! I'm in love with this color. It goes on wonderfully. I haven't tried it yet, but it will probably look good applied with a wet brush when you're going for a bolder look. It's hard to put in to words why I love this color, but it's just perfect. It can go from lash to brow, saving so much time! 15/10
This is where my routine gets really messy — mascara! I get almost as much on my eyelids as I do on my lashes! (Okay, that's a slight exaggeration...) The first time I put it on, I was pleased. I often have to use a mascara a number of time after I get it before it goes on without being super thick, clumpy, and/or wet. The first time I used it it went on very smooth, but since then, it's gone on really thick and wet, causing my lashes to stick together. I usually use 2 coats of mascara, but with just one coat, my lashes are too wet to apply another coat. I will, and have, continue to try this mascara, hoping it's just the "curse of new mascara" I often encounter. 7/10
To finish off my look, I used the lip gloss. When I took it out of the box, I was scared. The color looked very orange and bright, and something that would clash with my skin tone. Thankfully, I was very wrong! I love the color! This is my second favorite product from the voxbox, and I can't wait to use it this summer! The mango tango color screams "perfect for summer" and it's absolutely right! 12/10
All in all, I am very pleased with my experience with the Mary Kay products. I've never tried Mary Kay but was open to doing so. I was pleased that it wasn't a brand that had lackluster products. I have very finicky skin, and thankfully I haven't had a reaction to any of this makeup which is a huge plus in my book!
