I've given almost all of these a try and so far I'm pretty pleased.
Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
"Gently removes all eye makeup, including long lasting and waterproof makeup, with no oily residue." Since this is a review and I'm being totally honest, I have to say I did not like this the first time I used it. I guess I put too much on the cotton ball because it burned my eyes. They were all red and watery and boy was that unplesant! But I have a personal rule that before deciding if you like something or not (be it a TV show, food, or product) you must try/watch it 3 times before making a decision.
Abiding by that rule, I used the makeup remover again last night and it was much better. I made sure to put less on the cotton ball and that did prevent my eyes from burning. It did get my eye make up off and leave no oily residue, which is always nice. It took a couple swipes to fully remove my Kohl Kajal Eyeliner and eyeshadow, but don't they all? When I used it last night I didn't go all out on my eyelashes, but with the swipes I did it didn't get it all off. Then again I was quite gentle to prevent any burning. I'd rate it: 7/10
NYC Expert Last Lip Color in Sugar Plum
"Ready to take your lips to the next level? Try our NEW Expert Last Lip Color in twenty tantalizing shades. Get intense, amplified color and shine that lasts up to six hours! Our moisturizing formula glides on easily for silky, smooth, velvety finish for all day wear!" I really like this lip stick! In the past year or two, I've become quite the fan of lipstick and have two go-to's — and now this is the third! I've worn it every day since I got the VoxBox! It's a great color, has a pleasant smell, and is long lasting — even without using lip liner to make it last. It doesn't last all day, but it does last longer than others I've tried.
The color it came in is "Sugar Plum" and a brownish red shade that makes for a natural look with a little umph and shimmer. And with retail price of $1.99 I will definitely be getting this again and trying out new shades. I'd rate it: 10/10
Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner
"Gives instant colour impact with its high intensity pigments. The ultra-smooth and creamy formula glides on easily." This is another item I am highly pleased with from this VoxBox. I'm sure you've seen the commercials for this eyeliner and I won't lie, I considered buying it. But I already have a plethora of eyeliner and hardly ever wear it (it's usually reserved for days I'm on set) so I decided not to spring for it.
The eyeliner is black (I don't have it with me so I'm not sure if that's the technical name or if it has some snazzy one) and I used it before going to set this Wednesday and I've worn it every day since. It goes on smooth, lasts, and doesn't smudge!!! That last bit is very important to me, because there have been too many times when my eyeliner smudges and I have a mirrored image of it just under my eyebrows... How embarrassing!!! It does however have the little smudges that appear (hopefully not only on me) just on outer corner of my bottom lashes, but it's nothing that a nice swipe won't get rid of. I'd rate it: 9/10
McCormick Gourmet Thyme
"The freshest flavors deserve a free new look! McCormick Gourmet's Thyme imparts a light minty flavor that is distinctively warm and aromatic. McCormick Gourmet Thyme can be used throughout the day in dishes such as breakfast casseroles, hearty soups, stews, stuffing, and oven roasted chicken." I haven't had the chance to use this yet but I am very much looking forward to it! With Christmas literally around the corner, I'll be whipping up some deliciousness to accompany my killer snickerdoodle cookies (that we have like a million of and that may or may not be my breakfast...).
Fruit Vines Bites
"Fruit Vines Bites are a new, soft, chewy fruit candy from the Red Vines family, available in two fruit flavors - strawberry and cherry. Low fat and made with no preservatives Fruit Vines Bites are available in three sizes: a 2oz single serve, a 5oz hanging bag, and a 10oz resealable stand-up bag and can be found at Walmart in the West, Kroger, Walgreens, Target, Safeway and Rite Aid." These look like the Twizzlers you can pull apart, except on steroids and bite size. It wasn't until just now I learned they were related to Red Vines which are the Twizzlers competition. I received the 5oz bag of strawberry and they are quite delicious. They are juicy but a little sweet for me. I only ate a couple and that was plenty (it's not the best choice to accompany my venti iced caramel coffee). Though I will definitely keep them in my bag to munch when needed!
I'm not a big candy person (If I'm buying some, I go for the Butterfingers, Reese's, or Twix's) but I would definitely recommend these to someone if they ask or buy them at the movie theatre to munch on. I'd rate them: 8/10
No7 Protect & Perfect ADVANCED Sachet Sample
"This clinically proven serum is even more effective at reducing the appearance of fine lines for younger looking skin in just two weeks." This is another sample I haven't yet tried, and nor will I. When I was showing my mom the items that came in this box, I pulled this out, read the title and she snatched it from me. Not that she has wrinkles (she looks dang good for her age!) but she will need something that reduces fine lines more than I do.
EcoTools Hair Brush
"EcoTools hair brushes are designed with unique features that leave your head and hair happy and healthy. Long or short, straight or curly, EcoTools has the brush to tame any hair style with a variety of five brush head shapes and bristle designs specifically crafted to suit every need." Obsessed. I kind of love this hair brush. It's narrower than the one I've been using, so I was a bit skeptical at first on how it would do against all my hair and was ultimately incredibly pleased. The bristles pad is arched and when your brushing the hair on your scalp it feels like you're getting a head massage (sounds weird, I know, but it's awesome). It is tricky to get the hair out from the bristles because of the arch and the base isn't super squishy like in my other brush, but it is doable. Also, if you're an super eco friendly conscious person, this brush is "crafted with a bamboo handle, repurposed aluminum, recycled and recyclable paper packaging, and helps reduce electricity use*." I'd rate it: 9/10
* it claims the EcoVent design dries hair 20% faster for less heat damage, which I guess means not having to use your hairdryer for as long, thus reducing electricity?
Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane Decaf Tea
"Live life well this holiday season with Celestial Seasonings and take a stroll down Candy Cane Lane! It's made with the very finest green tea leaves, peppermint and other botanicals, because at Celestial Seasonings, we know you are what you steep." It's no secret to anyone who knows me that I don't like tea. Not sweet tea, not steeped tea, not green tea, not Oolong tea. The only tea I drink is iced chi from Starbucks and real tea when I'm in England, but for the sake of this review, I gave this a try. While it didn't change my view on teas, it wasn't terrible. I'd recommend it to someone who likes tea.
It smells like peppermint and also has the aftertaste of peppermint, so that's festive. I drank some of it. While I wasn't gagging and dying to spit it out, I didn't drink the entire thing, so there's that. I don't feel like I can give this an accurate rating, solely based on the fact that I don't like tea.
I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
