Expat Thanksgiving

Holiday's away from home by yourself can be lonely. Thankfully I got to enjoy all the fun of Thanksgiving with my family, but without any of the calories!

Paris

I think everyone knows Paris is always a good idea, but Paris with your cousin in autumn is an magnifique idea!

It was a whirlwind trip — for me. I had only 36-ish hours in the city of love and I needed to embrace every moment of it! While the bookends of the trip were a little rough, needless to say (you'll learn about that in part 2!) the entire trip was absolutely amazing.

Princes and Castles and Stuff

It's been a while!

I've hit - and surpassed - my one-month mark, which is crazy to believe! It honestly feels like I've been here for ages.

Probably because I have been so busy with everything!

But I finally took some time to have a one-sided chat with you to fill you in on everything that's been going on!

Raising a Parting Glass

My beloved Grandpa passed away on October 1st.

He went fast, but had a beautiful 88 years  and he was ready to go home and see his wife! It's strange when someone who is a constant in your life is suddenly no longer there. I would always joke with him and tell him he has to stick around until I got married, to which he always replied "well you'd better hurry up." He was a wonderful man and I'm so grateful that I got 23 years with him.

Wearing our Colors

Memorial Day is a holiday we celebrate to remember the men and women who died while serving in the country's armed forces.

As I sit here watching "I Wanna Marry Harry", it's easy to forget the sacrifice these men & women have made to make it so I can not only watch this show in my home, but allow me so many other freedoms we take for granted on a daily basis — like wearing what I want to, and writing about it.

I've been very blessed in the fact that my dad is only a veteran, not someone we have to pay our respects to on Memorial Day.

Same Page, Different Chapter

I planned on doing this post yesterday, but my internet was out since Thursday and just came back up.

A year ago yesterday (6/8) marked exactly 1 year ago I got on a plane and left for London.
But it's so much more than that. Aside from the obvious fact that I went to London on that day, it's probably one of the best days of my life so far.

London Calling

So I'm finally headed off to London tomorrow. After 10+ years of begging and dying to go, I'm finally going. It's surreal and hasn't hit me yet.

Last night my mom and I took B to give him to his pseudo-mommy for the next month. He seemed to do well and she was very nice which really put me at ease.

I went to the bank and deposited some shopping money- cha ching! I'll help London's economy, fo sho. :P

P-P-P-Packin

So I've got most everything packed.. And currently my suitcase is .5 lb under the limit. But thankfully I still have an empty carry on that is willing to welcome some spare articles of clothing, all while leaving room for new articles to accompany me home.

I can't believe it's almost here. I fly out on Friday!!  eeeek!! Tomorrow my family and I are meeting my daddy half-way to have lunch with him and spend some time with him before I jet off, which will be really nice.

It's all still surreal that I'm leaving in a matter of days!!!
